Deborah S. Hobbs is a fine artist based in Los Alamos, California, with over 35 years of work behind her. She’s primarily an oil painter and photographer, and has shown her work in galleries across Oakland, Hanford, Morro Bay, and Los Alamos, where she continues to exhibit today.

Her paintings move between landscape and abstraction, often exploring themes of civilization, the natural world, and the human experience. She works with rich color and bold texture in a way that sits somewhere between traditional technique and a distinctly contemporary perspective.

We’re currently showcasing her SLO Back Roads collection in the store. The series grew out of five years Deborah spent exploring San Luis Obispo in her 1968 VW dune buggy, using her own photography from those adventures as the foundation for the pieces now on our shelves.
